SNSD’s ‘Power Of 9′ Proven On Forbes Korea

SNSD were chosen as Korea’s no.1 Power Celebrity on Forbes Korea this year. Figure-skating queen, Kim YunA who topped the list for 2 years in a row was placed 3rd this year while Manchester United winger and former captain of the Korean football team, Park Jisung came in 2nd.

The Top 40 list was revealed in conjunction with the 8th anniversary of Forbes Korea’s founding. In determining the ranking, appearances on news articles, TV advertisements, Internet searches, etc are some of the major criteria. Besides the overall ranking, there are also top 40 rankings based on ‘Sales’, ‘Media’, ‘Broadcast’ and ‘Activities’. SNSD were ranked 2nd for ‘Sales’ and ‘Media’, 3rd for ‘Broadcast’ and 1st for ‘Activities’.

SNSD had a tremendous success last year in terms of music sales where they recorded a massive 270,000 copies on Hanteo Chart.

Graduation Hat Goes Well With Seohyun

Seohyun was selected as the most suitable singer to put on a graduation hat.

Recently, music portal, Bugs! conducted a survey entitled ‘Who seems to be the most suitable singer to put on a graduation hat?‘. The survey was conducted from February 8th to February 21st involving 2,552participants. From the result of the survey, Seohyun took the 1st spot with 47% (1,183 votes).

Meanwhile, IU came in 2nd with 20% of total votes. Seohyun and IU both received such huge support due to their ‘highly-disciplined image’ which can be seen on TV shows. Lee Teuk of Super Junior came in 3rd with 13% while Tablo in 4th with 11%. Suzy of miss A took the 5th spot, followed by 2PM’s Taecyeon with 2%.

As the new academic season is starting soon, Bugs! is conducting another survey entitled ‘Which singers seem to be the most suitable class monitor?‘. The survey is currently underway with Taeyeon and G-Dragon both in contention to top the survey.

SNSD to model water purifiers for “Woongjin Coway”

On February 27th, Woongjin Coway revealed that they selected SNSD as their exclusive models and recently contracted with the group for their water purifiers. Their contract will begin on March 1st and last through the year, while TV advertisements will begin running in mid-March.

With the water purification market expanding, Woongjin Coway believed that SNSD would be the perfect model in expanding the consumer base of their company, especially since the group is much loved by all age groups.

One representative stated, “In the past, our models included Kim Jung Eun, Song Hye Gyo, Lee Young Ae, and others. With the market expanding, we decided that SNSD would be a good fit since they’re popular with a variety of age groups.”

They continued, “Since Woongjin is #1 in the industry, our promotion plan is one that can only be done by a company of such stature. By creatively using the unique charms of each of the nine members, we’ll be releasing advertisements that show how our water purifiers are set apart from the rest.”

Girls' Generation, 2011 Korea Star Power Ranking 1st Place!

Girls' Generation was voted as a star who will have the biggest impact in Korea in 2011.

Economy magazine Forbes Korea released recent 2011 Korea star power ranking. Girls' Generation got first~third place in all of number of articles, TV CFs, internet search, sales, activity, etc, and got first place overall.

Last year, Girls' Generation sold the most albums within Korea. Despite album market being in depression, they sold over 270,000 albums and took first place over Super Junior.

Also, they appeared in 25 CFs and proved themselves as powerhouse of CF market. It's been analyzed that the sale total that Girls' Generation have earned through album sales, CFs and TV appearances is USD$8,880,206.

From there, activities in Japan shined. According to Sankei Sports, after Girls' Generation debuted last September, they earned 880 million yen (approximately USD$10,656,247) in album sales alone just late part of the year.

Just in sales, they earned at least USD$19,536,453 and took second place after Bae Yongjoon in sales category.

Individual member activities also shined. Sunny and Yuri through KBS2 'Invincible Youth', Seohyun through MBC 'We Got Married', each showing off their ability.

Taeyeon sang "Like A Star" with The One, and had a hit song with SBS drama 'Athena OST', grabbing attention as OST queen of new generation. Yuri and Tiffany also showed off their skills in MBC 'Show! Music Core'.

Especially last year, they showed off their hidden charm 100% through their first concert since debuting, making the crowd go wild.

Through these, they got lots of shining achievements in sales, media and broadcasts, activities and selected as a star who will brighten 2011.

Meanwhile, in Forbes star power ranking survey, Kim Yuna, who got first place the past two years, dropped to third, and soccer player Park Jisung climbed up to second, settling themselves as Korea representing sports stars.

Other than them, Lee Seunggi, 2PM, 2AM, Lee Hyori, Rain, Super Junior, Big Bang, 2NE1, B2ST etc made to the top half of the list, showing off the power of singers.

SNSD-Intel Collaboration

It’s confirmed! SNSD are the Asian CF models for IT giant, Intel.

SNSD and Intel will be doing various promotional campaigns and activities starting today, January 10th to target customers in Korea and other Asian countries.

SNSD’s stylish and charming image blends well with Intel’s ‘Visibly Smart’ motto for its ’2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors’.

During the promotions, consumers in Korea and other parts of Asia will be able to see the girls through theirmusic video which will be available in both 2D and 3D, various web contents, photos and others.

The MV which is the fruit of the collaboration between Intel and SNSD shall be officially released on January 17th.

The girls stated, “It will be a great music video as fans will be able to sing along easily and at the same time witness SNSD’s style of living. This musical project with Intel was really fun and interesting. When we heard about Intel, the famous ‘Bong’ sound came to our minds automatically”. On January 18th, SNSD will also be taking part in the launch of Intel’s new product.

During the launch, besides introducing Intel’s ’2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processor’ to about 1000 customers, there will also be various events where SNSD’s new song will be revealed.

On the other hand, Intel have advised fans to consult SM Entertainment regarding SNSD’s promotional schedules in other Asian countries.

UPDATE 1: Title of the new song revealed

SNSD’s new song ‘Visual Dreams‘ will be released via various music sites such as Melon, Bugs!, Dosirak, etc on January 17th. On January 18th, the MV will be revealed on sment YouTube channel, SNSD’s official site and Intel sites. Teaser of the ‘Visual Dreams’ MV is expected to be unveiled at noon (KST) on January 14th.

There seems to be a slight change to the original plan. The MV which was scheduled to be released on January 17th will be unveiled on January 18th instead. Does that mean that it will be revealed during Intel’s product launching then?

UPDATE 2: ‘Visual Dreams’ MV teaser revealed

The teaser MV was revealed at around 12.00pm KST. The first thing that came into my mind was “OMG! I need to see more” and I keep replaying the 30-second teaser for at least half an hour. The song is catchy and some of theSOSHIROBOTIC dance moves are really cute. Also, I noticed there are some ‘Run Devil Run’ dance steps in it (focus on Jessica). Besides the song and the dance, the patterns in the background gives you a retro feel, including the fonts at the end of the teaser. This is exciting and I bet everyone could not wait any longer to see the whole thing. I don’t know about you but I can’t since I’m now teased by such an awesome teaser.

SNSD’s Sunny and Gagman Park Sung Gwang are close friends

On the recent broadcast of OBS’s “Unique Entertainment News“, Park Sung Gwang was asked which celebrities he was close to. He garnered much curiosity when he answered SNSD’s Sunny. He stated, “I am really close to Sunny. She is nice and she is the only idol that picks up all my phone calls.”

SNSD’s cameo in Japanese drama ‘SAZAE-San 3′ revealed

On the 15th it was announced that all 9 members of Korean girl group SNSD would be making a guest appearance in the New Years special drama “SAZAE-San 3”, which stars actress Mizuki Arisa, and will air next year on January 2nd.While Namihei is having his first dream of the year, he hits a hole in one on a golf course, where SNSD will be here and there playing beautiful caddies.
