SNSD & KARA wins best new artist of the year

SNSD &  KARA wins best new artist of the year in japan gold disc award 2011

It seems that both SNSD and KARA‘s efforts and hard work in promotional activities in Japan and South Korea, in addition to crazy schedules and jet-setting in both countries, have paid off as the two girl groups continue to rake in awards and records.

In the newly released list of award winners of the Japan Gold Disc Award 2011, SNSD and KARA were awarded the Best New Artist of the Year.

SNSD also ranked in the Best 5 New Artists of the year, along other domestic singers such as WEAVER, KG, Miwa and Kii Kitano.

KARA, on the other hand, won the Best 3 New Artists for international singers. The other two winners are Australian singer-songwriter Orianthi and Ke$ha.

The Japan Gold Disc Awards was established in 1987 by the General Recording Industry Association of Japan to honor the artists and their contribution to the music industry for the year.

According to the official website, the awards are given based on the record numbers of net sales (minus the returns from the total number of shipments) and the sales data were rigorously verified by certified public accountant.

Previously, BIGBANG won the Best New Artist award in 2010.
