Girls’ Generation Triple Crown Nominees at MTV VMAs

Girls’ Generation (SNSD) has been nominated for three awards for the upcoming Japanese MTV VMAs. The group has been nominated in the following three categories: Best Group Video, Best Video of the Year, and Best Karokee! Song. This year’s event will take place on June 26th at the Mukuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
Girls’ Generation successfully debuted into the Japanese market last summer and has been recognized by the Japanese music industry and public within a relatively short period. Last year, Korea’s Big Bang took home the triple crown at the 2010 MTV VMAs by winning the Best New Artiste Video Award, Best Pop Video Award, and the Best Collaboration Award. Fans hope to see Girls’ Generation sweep the awards at this year’s ceremony as well.
Due to the recent natural disasters in Japan, the MTV VMA (short for Video Music Awards) has been renamed to MTV Video Music Aid Japan. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross. The MTV VMAs will be aired live in Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Philippines, and Indonesia, so be sure to check out your local TV listings for the complete schedule.
