On January 31st, Girls’ Generation appeared on CBS’s ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ as performance guests in the later half of the show and they performed a remixed English version of their hit song ‘The Boys’, which was on sale since January 17th.
The host David Letterman introduced the girls, “Our next guest is a very popular group from South Korea who have just released their first album in America. It’s entitled ‘The Boys’. Please welcome their network television debut, Girls’ Generation.”
The ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ has a tradition of performing with a live band so the girls performed ‘The Boys’ in a band remix version.
Coincidentally, the episode where Girls’ Generation made their debut on the American network television was the 30th anniversary of the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ and the host David Letterman thanked the girls in Korean, attracting more attention than usual.
In conjunction with the special appearance on American television, the girls stated, “Since we knew that we will be making an appearance on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’, we have been very excited. Also, participating in the show was a great time for us.”
Fans gathered since early in the morning outside the Ed Sullivan Theater, where the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ was recorded and their wait was paid off when the girls stopped to greet them and gave autographs!
Bill Murray, an actor-director, who also participated in the same episode as a guest, posed for a photo with the girls after the recording.
Not only were fans amazed by the performance on the Late Show, fellow Korean singer Brian Joo also tweeted about it shortly after it was aired!
The host of the show, Kelly Ripa, described the reaction of fans from around the world by saying, “Many people are tweeting about the fact that Girls’ Generation will be on our show! They are an amazing group!”
Netizens and fans were amazed and exclaimed, “Daniel Radcliffe has Girls’ Generation’s CD? This is surprising!”
Not only are the girls participating in the above two shows, but they will also be interviewed by ‘Extra TV’, a famous entertainment news program.
On the other hand, it is more good news for fans in the East Coast as Girls’ Generation will be having a fansign event at Best Buy, One Union Square South, NY on Thursday, February 2nd at 7pm. Space are limited and wristbands will be distributed with purchases of CD, starting from February 2nd.
